EARLY EXAMS MATTER
When should children have their eyes examined?
0–6 months
First eye exam. Yes, really. Rules out major issues.
3 years
Second exam. Generally can get a good idea of how the visual system is developing.
Before kindergarten
Third exam. Make sure your child is visually ready to learn.
Annually
Through school age and adolescence.
Vision screenings can miss up to 75% of children with vision problems. Passing a screening does not replace a comprehensive pediatric eye exam.
